DRC: Opposition demands resignation of President Félix Tshisekedi

Congolese opposition has strongly reacted to the adoption of a bill that could pave the way for a third term for President Félix Tshisekedi, demanding his resignation. The text, approved by the Senate after the National Assembly, would allow a referendum on a new constitution that would not record the terms already served. Only the president's signature is needed for the reform to take effect. Tshisekedi, in power since 2019, has already announced his intention to seek a third term if voters approve the reform.
