DRC: Tense discussions between Kinshasa and AFC/M23 in Switzerland

A new round of negotiations began on April 13, 2026, in Switzerland between the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo and the armed group AFC/M23, marking the ninth round of talks. The discussions are taking place in Montreux, with the involvement of international actors, including a representative from Qatar and U.S. envoy Massad Boulos. From the outset, disagreements arose regarding the agenda and the composition of delegations, particularly from AFC/M23, which expressed a desire to include more representatives.
