Norway’s Waerenskjold wins fastest Tour de France stage in history

Norwegian rider Søren Wærenskjold won the 11th stage of the Tour de France from Vichy to Nevers, clocking an average speed of 50.91 km/h, the fastest in the race's 113 editions. He beat Dutchman Olav Kooij and Belgian Milan Fretin, who was promoted after Jasper Philipsen was relegated. Eritrean Biniam Girmay finished fifth to cut Mads Pedersen's lead in the green jersey competition to 43 points, as Pedersen could only manage 10th.
