Photos: Youth-led rallies sweep Germany

Tens of thousands of people joined demonstrations across Germany on Saturday, October 31, organised by the group “Gen Z regelt” and inspired by similar movements in France and Italy. The group said about 120,000 people took part, fewer than the 180,000 it had expected, and the rallies were largely peaceful during the day. Violence broke out in the evening in Frankfurt, Berlin, Cologne and Hamburg, with police using water cannon against protesters throwing Molotov cocktails. Several officers were injured, and protesters looted a gun store in Frankfurt.
