The Labour Court in Cape Town reinstated NSFAS facilities manager Alfred Abrahams, ruling his protected disclosures to the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) were in the public interest. Abrahams was dismissed for forwarding internal documents to his personal email, allegedly breaching ICT policies. NSFAS administrator Hlengani Mathebula, appointed in May by minister Buti Manamela, committed to supporting whistleblowers and strengthening corporate governance. Abrahams hopes these public commitments will lead to meaningful action.
