One dead, more than 30 missing after Vanuatu ferry sinks, PM’s office says

At least one person has died and more than 30 are missing after the MV Matui ferry sank off the coast of Vanuatu. The ferry sank due to bad weather while sailing between the islands of Ambae and Santo. Search and rescue operations are ongoing, with 15 people accounted for alive. The government indicated that the sinking may be due to strong winds and negligence, including overloading of the vessel.
