EFCC appeals ex-NDDC director's acquittal in N3.6bn fraud case

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has formally challenged the acquittal of Engr. Tuoyo Omatsuli, a former Executive Director of Projects at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), and three others in a N3.6 billion fraud case. The EFCC filed a notice of appeal before the Lagos Division of the Court of Appeal, arguing that the trial court erred in its evaluation of evidence and failed to apply legal principles correctly. The agency claims that the funds were diverted for the acquisition of high-value properties in Lagos instead of being used for youth-related interventions in the Niger Delta.
