Sadiq Khan joins House of Lords as outgoing UK PM names 26 new peers

London Mayor Sadiq Khan has been nominated for a life peerage in the House of Lords as part of outgoing UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer's final list of 26 appointments. Khan, first elected in 2016 and in his third term, is among the last decisions before Andy Burnham is expected to succeed Starmer. The nominees include human rights campaigners, military figures, and economists, with 16 from Labour, 5 Liberal Democrats, 3 Conservatives, and 2 crossbenchers.
