Gas Transportation Network Not Responsible for Drop in Power Generation, NNPC Says

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) says its gas transportation network remains available and has no constraints that would explain the decline in electricity generation. The statement, issued in Abuja by corporate communications chief Andy Odeh, responds to the Nigerian Independent System Operator’s November 5 assessment, which cited limited gas availability and reduced water inflows to hydroelectric stations. NNPC says gas production has risen by about 10 per cent year-to-date in 2026, but adds that the shortfall must also be assessed against power plant readiness, maintenance schedules and actual gas offtake. It called on gas suppliers, transporters, power generators and NISO to jointly review operational data.
