Greece pins hopes on heat-seeking satellites to predict wildfires

Greece is using thermal imaging satellites to monitor ground temperature and humidity, enabling prediction of forest fires hours in advance. The Hellenic Space Center can model fire spread and see through smoke to locate hotspots. This technology helps firefighters pre-position assets and direct precise water bombing.
