Electricity: After Alucam, the government authorizes Prometal to supply directly from the dams - Investir au Cameroun

Prometal, the leader in steel transformation in Cameroon and Central Africa, will soon be able to source electricity directly from dams managed by the Electricity Development Corporation (EDC). The finalization of contracts is scheduled during consultations from June 8 to 12, 2026 in Yaoundé. A letter from the Secretary General of the Prime Minister's office, Séraphin Magloire Fouda, addressed on June 1, 2026 to the Minister of Water and Energy, Gaston Eloundou Essomba, states that discussions will cover the specific tariff granted to Prometal since February 2025 and the finalization of the EDC-Prometal supply contract and the EDC-Socadel compensation contract.
