Electricity: Things Get Complicated for SENELEC with Meters

The National Electricity Company (Senelec) faces a new unfavorable decision from the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (ARCOP), which canceled a second contract award for smart meters under the World Bank-funded PADAES project. The contract, worth billions of CFA francs, attracted eight bidders, mostly Chinese, with Inhemeter ranked first. Technical integration conditions with Senelec's MDMS system complicated the process, leading to accusations of transparency breaches.
