EPRA Introduces Fresh Forex and Water Levy Charges on Electricity Bills

The Energy Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) announced new charges on electricity bills in April 2026, impacting millions of households and businesses in Kenya. These charges include a Foreign Exchange Fluctuation Adjustment of 123.41 cents per kWh, a Water Resource Management Authority (WRMA) levy of 1.54 cents per kWh, and a Fuel Energy Cost Charge (FECC) of 347 cents per kWh. These adjustments are attributed to foreign exchange movements, water resource levies, and fuel costs for electricity generation.
