Macron condemns ‘racist terrorist attack’ after deadly shooting near Paris

A gunman killed one person and wounded five while firing from his car in Trappes and neighbouring La Verrière in the Yvelines. The wounded include a 12-year-old girl who was shot eight times and is seriously injured but stable; most victims were reportedly of foreign origin. Emmanuel Macron and Trappes mayor Ali Rabeh condemned the shooting as a racist terrorist attack, while Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez called it a terrorist crime. The 39-year-old suspect was arrested in Coignières; authorities said he had a submachine gun and tear-gas grenades and had booby-trapped his apartment.
