Oil Code: President Bassirou Diomaye Faye refers to the Constitutional Council

The government referred the proposed law by Pastef deputies to amend the Oil Code to the Constitutional Council, leading to the postponement of the scheduled plenary session on September 29. The bill aims to require parliamentary approval for all oil contracts, including a proposed change to Article 20 of the 2019 Oil Code. President Bassirou Diomaye Faye had previously submitted cases to the Constitutional Council in July regarding constitutional revision and in August concerning the legal framework for special credits.
