Ethiopia's EV push draws Kenyan manufacturers north

Ethiopia's aggressive drive to electrify its transport sector is attracting Kenyan electric vehicle manufacturers Spiro, Roam, and BasiGo. The e-mobility strategy targets 80% of new vehicle registrations to be electric by 2030, up from 8%. Spiro secured $215 million in equity financing and plans to expand to Ethiopia, while Roam completed a 1,600-km ride from Nairobi to Addis Ababa to showcase its motorcycles.
