The European Parliament on Wednesday approved the creation of return centres outside the EU, with 418 votes in favor and 218 against. These facilities, aimed at speeding up the deportation of rejected asylum seekers, can be set up in third countries through agreements. Greece hopes to open a first centre by 2027, while Germany, Austria and the Netherlands have already expressed support for this controversial measure.
