Events in Mali Since the 2012 Rebellion

Since 2012, Mali has been facing a security crisis intensified by attacks from jihadists and Tuareg rebels. The rebellion began with the Tuaregs' demands for independence, followed by the involvement of Islamist groups. In March 2012, a military coup ousted President Amadou Toumani Touré, worsening the situation. France's Operation Serval in 2013 partially pushed back the jihadists.
