Explained: Why Gachagua Can Still Run for President Despite Court Ruling

Law Society of Kenya president Charles Kanjama stated that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is eligible for any elective office, including the presidency, despite the High Court ruling upholding his impeachment by the Senate. Under Article 99(3) of the Constitution, a person is only disqualified after all appeal avenues are exhausted. Gachagua has announced his intention to challenge President Ruto in the 2027 elections.
