Lomé: MONUSCO reaffirms its commitment to peace and civilian protection in eastern DRC

MONUSCO reaffirmed its commitment to de-escalation, civilian protection, and a political solution in eastern DRC during a semestrial evaluation meeting of the African Union in Lomé, Togo, on June 7-8, 2026. UN Special Envoy Huang Xia and MONUSCO head James Swan participated alongside the Office of the Special Envoy for the Great Lakes. Participants emphasized the need for coherence among regional and international initiatives to address security and humanitarian challenges.
