Fresh tension in Plateau as gunmen attack Barkin Ladi community

Residents of Sabon Layi community in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State were thrown into panic following an attack by gunmen suspected to be terrorists. A woman was reportedly killed and a man sustained severe gunshot injuries during the attack at around 6:15 p.m. The Publicity Secretary of the Berom Youth Moulders Association expressed concerns over the worsening security situation, noting that at least 30 natives had been killed between April and May 9, 2026.
