Facing Russian missiles, Ukraine tests its own anti-ballistic missile

On June 3, 2026, Ukrainian defense company Fire Point successfully conducted the first fully guided maneuvering flight of the FP-7.X missile, designed for the future Freyja anti-ballistic system. Technical director Iryna Terekh confirmed the test on X. The missile, 7.25 meters long and reaching speeds of Mach 5 to Mach 6.7, is an interceptor variant of the FP-7 missile. Fire Point aims for an operational delivery in 2027, amid Ukrainian shortages of Patriot, NASAMS, and IRIS-T munitions. Co-founder Denys Chtilierman also mentioned possible test launches of Ukrainian ballistic missiles towards Moscow in summer 2026.
