FG orders probe into alleged plot against local barge operators

The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, has directed the Nigerian Shippers’ Council to investigate allegations of systemic attempts to undermine indigenous barge operators at Nigerian ports. Local operators raised concerns about unfavorable policies and preferential treatment given to certain foreign firms. Oyetola reaffirmed the Federal Government's commitment to safeguarding local investments and promoting fair competition in the maritime sector.
