FIFA's disciplinary committee has extended Themba Zwane's suspension from one to three games after finding him guilty of more serious misconduct in Bafana Bafana's 2-0 loss to Mexico in the opening match of the 2026 World Cup. Zwane was shown a straight red card by referee Wilton Sampaio for shoving an opponent in the face. Initially slated to serve a one-match ban against Czechia, FIFA decided to sanction him more harshly after a review.
