Yemeni soldiers, earning between 60,000 and 180,000 Yemeni riyals per month, are facing salary payment delays, with some not having been paid since December. The army, which has between 180,000 and 220,000 personnel, receives a monthly budget of about 36 billion riyals, but only 30 to 40 percent of soldiers are on the front lines. Soldiers are awaiting back payments before Eid al-Adha, which is set to occur in late May.
