First Kenyan Avocados Arrive in China Under New Zero-Tariff Deal

On May 8, 2026, the first shipment of 6.9 tonnes of Kenyan avocados arrived in China under the zero-tariff agreement that took effect on May 1. This agreement grants duty-free access to 98.2% of Kenyan exports and aims to rebalance the economic relationship between Kenya and China. The Kenyan government is targeting an annual export of 15 million kilograms of tea by 2030, alongside a 20% increase in coffee shipments.
