France: On appeal, Sarkozy denies any Libyan funding for his campaign

Nicolas Sarkozy appeared on Tuesday before the Paris Court of Appeal for his appeal trial regarding the alleged Libyan funding of his 2007 electoral campaign. He stated that not a single Libyan cent was used for his campaign. In the first instance, he was sentenced to five years in prison for complicity, accused of allowing his close associates to contact Libyan authorities in 2005 in exchange for diplomatic support.
