France: World champion confesses to strangling his ex-partner in Strasbourg

A 39-year-old multiple world champion in cane fighting has been on trial since June 17, 2026, before the Bas-Rhin assize court for the murder of his 28-year-old ex-partner, found strangled on July 9, 2022. He admitted visiting her to discuss their daughter, claiming a slap caused her to fall, then he strangled her and staged it as an accident. His DNA on the victim's belongings led to his arrest in January 2023. His new partner is on trial for false testimony and faces up to seven years in prison. The verdict is expected on June 20, 2026.
