Recently freed kidnap victims in Borno State described harsh captivity conditions. Abducted on March 4 from Ngoshe community in Gwoza Local Government Area, they were released on June 6. The captives slept on bare ground and ate only once a day, consuming guinea corn without soup. Governor Babagana Zulum announced a rehabilitation program and thanked President Bola Tinubu and security forces for securing their release. About 434 abducted persons have been released in phases, with 360 returning two days earlier.
