The Nigerian Senate has passed amendments to the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) Act, raising fines for various traffic offences by up to 300%. New penalties include a N50,000 fine for preaching or selling products in public vehicles. Driving under the influence of alcohol will now cost N100,000 or two years imprisonment. The bill, which lists 52 offences, still requires presidential assent.
