Despite the Chinese wave, the RAV4 remains the world's best-selling car

For the second consecutive year, the Toyota RAV4 was the world's best-selling car in 2024, with 1.187 million units sold (including the Wildlander), according to JATO Dynamics, narrowly beating the Tesla Model Y by 2,000 units. Toyota has five models in the global top 10, including the Corolla Cross and Hilux. Hybrid vehicle sales grew 20% in 2025 while pure electric sales slowed. Toyota plans to launch the sixth-generation RAV4 as a hybrid-only model in 2026.
