Togo: CENTIF targets financial flows linked to maritime crime

CENTIF-Togo opened a two-day workshop in Lomé on October 22, bringing together 80 public- and private-sector participants to examine money-laundering risks linked to maritime crime. Participants are expected to validate a sectoral assessment conducted with CONAC and PAGDSP, which is funded by the African Development Bank. The assessment addresses proceeds from drug trafficking, smuggling and illegal fishing; Lomé Port handled 30.6 million tonnes of goods in 2024. The work is intended to produce recommendations to prioritize risks, improve information-sharing and strengthen investigations, prosecutions and the confiscation of criminal assets.
