Mobile Money: Transfers up to 8,000 FCFA will soon be free in UEMOA

Starting November 2, 2026, the BCEAO will make domestic transfers up to 8,000 FCFA free via PI-SPI for 75% of electronic money transactions in UEMOA. Transfers exceeding this amount may incur fees between 0 and 0.8%, while receiving transfers remains free regardless of amount. The PI-SPI platform, launched in September 2025, has rapidly expanded, with over 38 million users and 175 participants connected by October 2026, enabling communication among payment actors.
