Driven by desperation: Yemenis resort to dangerous energy alternatives

An explosion in Taiz, Yemen, killed a mother and two children and seriously burned the father, caused by a lithium battery from a solar power system. Dr Mohammed Saeed from Al-Thawra Hospital said such incidents are frequent due to the lack of a public electricity grid. Residents have only two options: expensive generators or solar panels, often installed without safety standards.
