Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State promoted three High Chiefs in Ibadanland to Obas in their absence, marking a first in Yorubaland's history. The three chiefs, Ekeerin Balogun, Akeem Adewoyin, and Kola Babalola, declined the invitation to the coronation ceremony.
