Govt Moves to Implement Ksh207Billion Health Deal With U.S

The Kenyan government and the U.S. have formally agreed to implement the Ksh207 billion health cooperation deal that had been frozen in court. Treasury Principal Secretary Chris Kiptoo confirmed the agreement on June 8, 2026, following a visit from U.S. Chargé d'Affaires Susan Burns. The five-year program covers disease surveillance, lab systems, health commodities, frontline workforce transition, and digital health systems. Despite opposition from activists and legislators citing lack of transparency and data privacy concerns, the Court of Appeal lifted the freeze on May 12.
