NSIB recovers door that fell off private jet shortly after Abuja take-off

Nigeria’s Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has recovered the door that detached from a Triton-operated Challenger 604 business jet shortly after it took off from Abuja for Lagos. About three nautical miles from the airport at 3,500 feet, the crew issued a mayday call, turned back and landed safely at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at 16:34 UTC. Nine people were aboard, including three crew members and six passengers; the report gave no details about possible injuries. NSIB Director-General Captain Alex Badeh Jr said the door had been secured at the Bureau’s wreckage hangar and an investigation was under way.
