DRC: Migrants expelled from the United States begin to leave Kinshasa

More than half of the South American migrants expelled from the United States to the Democratic Republic of the Congo have left Kinshasa to return to their home countries. On April 17, fifteen nationals from Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru were transferred to Kinshasa under a controversial US program. The Congolese government says the arrangement is temporary and that more departures are planned. The arrival of these migrants had sparked strong criticism from civil society.
