Better than Yamal and Mbappé: the remarkable stat putting Zabiri ahead of La Liga stars

On loan at Racing Santander after a difficult spell at Rennes, Moroccan striker Yassir Zabiri has scored seven goals in eight La Liga matchdays, compared with 3.3 expected goals. His +3.7 goals-over-xG margin ranks third in the table, behind Raphinha and S. Camello Pérez, and ahead of Lamine Yamal and Kylian Mbappé in this measure. None of Zabiri’s goals came from penalties, and five were scored first-time; despite being naturally left-footed, he has also scored twice with his right.
