High Court Upholds Election of Mbeere North MP Leo Wa Muthende, Opposition to Appeal

The High Court in Embu upheld the election of Leonard Wa Muthende Njeru as the Mbeere North Member of Parliament in a ruling on May 21. Justice Richard Mwongo declared the UDA candidate duly elected, noting that the ruling would be transmitted to National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula. The petition was filed by Newton Kariuki Ndwiga, contesting the results of the November 27, 2025, by-election, in which Wa Muthende won by a narrow margin of 494 votes.
