Watch: 'Mood has really shifted' as Paris protesters clash with police

Police deployed on the streets of Paris on Saturday amid widespread tension during demonstrations. Protesters are opposing falling education standards, rising fuel prices and the cost of living. The movement began last month at high schools in poor northern suburbs of Paris, sparked by teacher absences and shabby facilities, before growing into a nationwide protest against inequality and declining public services. Hundreds of demonstrations were planned across France, with tens of thousands expected to take part; BBC correspondent Adina Campbell reported live from Place de la République.
