Hormuz Strait: Stalled Negotiations Worry Markets

The Hormuz Strait, through which nearly one-fifth of the world's oil passes, is at the center of a major geopolitical crisis. Maritime traffic is disrupted due to tensions between Iran and the United States, with both sides imposing pressure measures. Tehran has proposed, through Pakistani mediation, a plan for a gradual resumption of traffic in the strait in exchange for easing U.S. sanctions and ending the blockade of Iranian port infrastructure.
