The US military rescued a missing crew member during a nighttime mission after his fighter jet was shot down in a remote part of Iran. The pilot and a weapons systems officer were aboard an F-15E Strike Eagle, the first shot down by enemy fire in over 20 years. While the pilot was rescued the same day, the other crew member had to hide in a mountain crevice, monitored by the CIA, before being ultimately recovered by US special forces.
