'I spent uni savings on getting my teeth fixed' - how lack of NHS care is hitting hard

Deacon Galloway, 19, spent nearly £800 of his university savings on private dental treatment because no NHS dentist was available in North Yorkshire. Private consultation costs rose 23% in two years to an average of £80, and simple extractions rose 32% to £139. The Competition and Markets Authority is investigating whether dentists are exploiting the lack of NHS care.
