Former Plateau State governor, Senator Jonah Jang, stated he faced severe criticism when he advocated for the establishment of state police. During President Bola Tinubu's sympathy visit to Jos, Jang highlighted ongoing security challenges in the state, mentioning that over 160 communities had been destroyed by armed groups. He dismissed the narrative that the attacks were mainly about farmer-herder conflicts, describing them as driven by expansionist motives with political and religious undertones.
