Nigerians die after inhaling toxic fumes during alleged pipeline theft, community group says

At least 37 people have died after inhaling toxic fumes while allegedly stealing petrol from a pipeline in Rivers State, Nigeria. Over 100 individuals gathered at Okari Jetty in Okrika to collect the refined fuel under the cover of darkness. The Youths and Environmental Advocacy Centre (YEAC) reported that locals died after inhaling what is locally known as 'Indorama fuel'. Nigerian authorities have stepped up operations against oil theft in recent years.
