IGP deploys DIGs to geopolitical zones, launches inter-state 'handshake patrols' against crime

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, ordered the deployment of Deputy Inspectors-General (DIGs) to Nigeria's six geopolitical zones, effective June 15, 2026. He also launched the 'Handshake Patrols' initiative, requiring neighboring state commands to conduct joint patrols and share intelligence against criminals crossing borders. The DIGs will provide strategic leadership alongside Commissioners of Police to improve security coordination.
