According to the 2026 Ibrahim Index of African Governance (IIAG) released on July 11 by the Mo Ibrahim Foundation, Benin ranks 5th in Africa in the fight against corruption, with a score of 57.8 points. Rwanda and Seychelles top the ranking, followed by Mauritius (3rd) and Senegal (4th). The index measures states' ability to prevent and sanction corruption in public and private institutions. The report notes an overall improvement across the continent between 2016 and 2025, but considers progress still insufficient.
