IMF approves $250 million loan to Rwanda

On June 8, the IMF approved a new 38-month financing program under the Extended Credit Facility totaling approximately $250 million for Rwanda. An initial disbursement of just over $35.7 million was made. The Rwandan Finance Minister welcomed the decision, viewing it as a lever to stabilize the economy and promote inclusive growth. The program focuses on three pillars: strengthening macroeconomic policy coherence, better managing fiscal risks, and supporting the private sector.
