President Salva Kiir dismissed Jemma Nunu Kumba, the head of the transitional Parliament, and her deputy Permena Awerial Aluong. Jemma Nunu Kumba, the first woman to hold this position, was appointed in July 2021. Members of the Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) voted a motion of no confidence against her, citing mismanagement of parliamentary funds and alleged corruption.
